There's a long winding path on the eastern shore of the island that takes you to the famous Makapu'u Lighthouse— but know when to leave the crowded road and turn, trust your step as you descend each steep cliff edge, all the way down the mountainside. You'll hear the thundering from the blowhole, and the clapping of the tide as you get closer.
And then you'll see it. The Makapu'u Tidepools. With its pools of incredible glassy waters waiting for you. And if you're lucky, for a little while, it'll be just yours.
